How Old Is Too Old For a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Ask Dr. Jones

The Brazilian Butt Lift procedure involves harvesting excess fat from various areas on the body, including the abdomen, back, hips, waist, thighs and arms. The excess fat is then transferred into the buttocks. This procedure is perfect for deflated buttocks and will enlarge the area as requested. Transferring body fat to the buttocks is the preferred method of enhancement over buttock implants, due to lower complication rates and an easier recovery process. The ideal candidate for this procedure is a healthy, non-smoking adult with a significant amount of excess fat available for harvest.

But how old is too old to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift? Well, it all depends on how healthy the patient is, along with their skin caliper. Collagen allows our skin to be strong, flexible and supple. As we age, we start to lose collagen, which can affect skin elasticity. This will cause our skin to feel dry, thin and eventually start to sag. If the patient has firm and tight skin, they are better candidates for this procedure, no matter the age. After liposuction, it is really important for the skin to snap right back in order to provide the best results. If the skin does not retract well enough, the patient will be left with loose, sagging skin.

Here at Lexington Plastic Surgeons, we’ve done Brazilian Butt Lifts on patients as old as 72 because they have wonderful skin!
